DVD Savant: Primal Fear, Forbidden Hollywood, and Wonderful Town
This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: Primal Fear - Edward Norton makes his big screen debut opposite Laura Linney and Richard Gere in this courtroom whodunnit about city corruption and a murdered archbishop; The Forbidden Hollywood Collection Volume 3 - This year's best disc collection so far collects six searing Pre-Code pictures by William Wellman, several of which focus on the social disruption caused by the Great Depression -- as it was unfolding. Featuring stars like James Cagney in interesting roles before they were typecast: Other Men's Women, The Purchase Price, Frisco Jenny, Midnight Mary, Heroes for Sale and Wild Boys of the Road; and Wonderful Town - Aditya Assarat's cool, distracting story generates a romance in the ruins of the 2004 Tsunami in balmy southern Thailand. An interesting human study with a twist ending. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
