DVD Savant: Wayne's World, Science is Fiction, and Paycheck
Wayne's World This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: Wayne's World [Blu-ray] - A good test of essential coolness: seventeen years later, are Wayne and Garth still cool? The movie itself has kept fairly fresh; Science is Fiction: 23 Films by Jean Painlevé - A fascinating career on film -- a French film director created unusual nature and science studies -- influenced by the Avant-Garde movement! Great science and fine art in one package. With other odd Painlevé films, like a 30's color stop-motion animation operetta; and Paycheck [Blu-ray] - The premise of this Sci-Fi thriller is rather ambitious (the source is a Philip K. Dick story) but John Woo turns much of it into standard action escapism: see men point guns at each other's heads! Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
