This Week's Notable DVDs: Kick-Ass, A Prophet, and Akira Kurosawa
There are a few new releases this week that you won't want to miss. Check out these hot titles: Kick-Ass [ Blu-ray review] - visceral violence, dark humor, and a ten year old girl laying waste to an army of goons while she swears up a storm... what more could you want?; The First Films of Akira Kurosawa [DVD review] - four rarely seen early films created by the acclaimed director during WWII; and A Prophet [DVD review, Blu-ray review] - a brooding, assured picture, and if the labyrinthine plotline detracts, the execution never wavers. It's an outstanding film.
Other new releases of note include: Heroes: Season Four [DVD review, Blu-ray review], Diary of a Wimpy Kid [DVD review], and James and the Giant Peach [Blu-ray review].
