DVD Savant: The White Tower, Che!, and The Young Savages
This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews and articles including: The White Tower - RKO sent color cameras to Europe to film Paul Jarrico's tale of a daring attempt to climb a forbidding mountain - this is one of the better films of its type; Che! - the most embarrassing movie biography of all time is a fascinating study of what happens when a Hollywood studio takes on a hot-button political potato... the filmmakers do everything but backflips to avoid dealing with Che Guevara's ideas about revolution; and The Young Savages - Rough tough Burt Lancaster puts his liberal brand on Harold Hecht's juvenile delinquency epic, with an assist from sophomore film director John Frankenheimer.
Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
