New Movie Reviews: Gone Girl, Harmontown, and Annabelle
Gone Girl Check out DVD Talk's latest reviews of movies that are in theatrical release. This week's crop includes: Gone Girl - truly one of the must see films of the year... David Fincher's movie is dark, intelligent, and impactful; Harmontown - this documentary follows Community creator Dan Harmon and his co-host Jeff B. Davis as they take their podcast on a coast-to-coast bus tour; and Annabelle - a spin-off prequel to the chilling film The Conjuring, this movie was helmed by cinematographer, John R. Leonetti and is a missed opportunity that lacks the creep factor of the original. Other recent films include: A Walk Among the Tombstones, The Maze Runner, Kelly & Cal, The Drop, The Skeleton Twins, The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, The November Man, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Guardians of the Galaxy, 22 Jump Street, and How to Train Your Dragon 2. Check out these, and more, in DVDTalk's Theatrical Review section.

TV on DVD: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Key & Peele, and Regular Show
Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Season 1 TV on DVD remains very popular with more and more favorites being released. New TV reviews include: Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Season 1 - an entertaining special-mission story with an appealing team of characters, flavored with Marvel-brand superheroics; Key & Peele: Season 3 - the third season features many returning characters and a few direct sequels to earlier sketches, and it is probably the show's strongest and most inventive collection of episodes to date, Game of Thrones style; and Regular Show: Rigby Pack - Cartoon Network has unleashed their sixth "pack" of random 11-minute episodes from the hit animated comedy Regular Show, this time focused on the self-centered raccoon character, Rigby Other shows recently reviewed include:  Agatha Christie's Marple, Series 6, The Field of Blood, Set 1, and The Magic School Bus: Human Body.  Want more?  Check out all of the TV on DVD reviews in the DVD Talk database.

DVD Savant: The White Tower, Che!, and The Young Savages
The White Tower This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews and articles including: The White Tower - RKO sent color cameras to Europe to film Paul Jarrico's tale of a daring attempt to climb a forbidding mountain - this is one of the better films of its type; Che! - the most embarrassing movie biography of all time is a fascinating study of what happens when a Hollywood studio takes on a hot-button political potato... the filmmakers do everything but backflips to avoid dealing with Che Guevara's ideas about revolution; and The Young Savages - Rough tough Burt Lancaster puts his liberal brand on Harold Hecht's juvenile delinquency epic, with an assist from sophomore film director John Frankenheimer. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.

Brit-Streaming: A Farewell to Hercule Poirot
Poirot Brit-Streaming returns as Greg Bakun takes a look at the very final episode to the long running mystery series, Agatha Christie’s Poirot. The final episode, Curtain: Poirot’s Last Case, is a very somber story as we catch up with Poirot later in his life. Poirot’s body is failing him but his mind is as sharp as ever as he is on a trail of a killer who uses a most unconventional way to get at the victims. Poirot is reunited with his oldest friend Captain Hasting for one last adventure but unfortunately, Hastings is also battling some demons in his life. As usual, Greg looks at the story and reviews it plus looks at what is happening with the online streaming service AcornTV. There are quite a few new programs being added to the service in October so its always fun to what treasures Acorn has uncovered and added to their service. Read about all this, and more, in the latest installment of Brit-Streaming.
