New Movie Reviews: Dracula Untold, The Boxtrolls, and Whiplash
Dracula Untold It'd be a good weekend to go to the movies. Here are DVD Talk's recent theatrical reviews: Dracula Untold - a mildly entertaining film but this isn't something that you're going to be excited to see again; The Boxtrolls - an excellent story amazingly animated, culminating in a film that is undoubtedly the best work that animation studio Laika (Coraline, ParaNorman)has ever completed; and Whiplash - a remarkable piece of cinematic brilliance, this is a film about passion and doing whatever it takes to be the best. Other recent films include: Gone Girl, Harmontown, A Walk Among the Tombstones, The Maze Runner, Kelly & Cal, The Drop, The Skeleton Twins, The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, The November Man, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Guardians of the Galaxy, 22 Jump Street, and How to Train Your Dragon 2. Check out these, and more, in DVDTalk's Theatrical Review section.

TV on DVD: The Legend of Lizzie Borden, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Mom
The Legend of Lizzie Borden More TV shows have made their way on to DVD, and DVD Talk has got them covered. Check out our reviews of the newest TV releases including: The Legend of Lizzie Borden - this long-lost TV horror classici is filled with haunting, dreamy, crazy nightmare thrills and Elizabeth Montgomery scares you with a truly frightening, preternaturally effective performance; Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Season 1 - a rare show that emerges fully-formed from its first episode, a hilarious ensemble comedy that manages to tell some interesting, entertaining police stories while earning its laughs from the interactions of the characters; and Mom: The Complete First Season - Buoyed by Anna Faris and Allison Janney as ex-addicts with contrasting attitudes towards motherhood, this caffeinated, chaotic yet very promising show is worth checking out. Other shows recently reviewed include:  SpongeBob SquarePants: SpongeBob, You're Fired!, Dennis Brown Live: Rockers TV, and My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic: Spooktacular Pony Tales.  Want more?  Check out all of the TV on DVD reviews in the DVD Talk database.

DVD Savant: Universal Classic Monsters, La Bamba, and Chef
Universal Classic Monsters This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews and articles including: Universal Classic Monsters - there's a heap of monster madness to be had here, with a king-sized repackaging of all of Uni monsterdom's Legacy Collections, plus what looks like every extra ever produced; La Bamba - Theater innovator Luis Valdez makes an excellent musical bio from the true story of the great Ritchie Valens, and his film is also one of the best movies about the Mexican-American experience; and Chef - Jon Favreau pulled together a group of friends to make a movie about a good-guy chef who enlists both friends and family to survive what looks like career suicide by Twitter. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.

This Week's Notable Releases: Edge of Tomorrow, Sleeping Beauty and Sidewalk Stories
Edge of Tomorrow Some great discs are being released this week. Check out these new movies: Edge of Tomorrow [review] - Action-packed, thought-provoking, suspenseful, and surprisingly funny, Doug Liman's movie is one of year's most entertaining films, regardless of genre; Sleeping Beauty [review] - a solid one-disc release, as it combines a near-perfect A/V presentation with a handful of vintage and lightweight new supplements; and Sidewalk Stories [review] - a sweet and touching love letter to silent comedy, this film genuinely feels like a movie that hasn't quite had its day in the sun. Other reviews of note include: Raffles Double Feature [review], To Be Takei [review], and Jack And The Cuckoo-Clock Heart [review]. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.

Recent Reviews: Once Upon a Time in America, Macbeth, and Vincent Price
Once Our reviewers have been busy this week, filling the DVD Talk Review Database more great entries. Some new reviews of note include: Once Upon a Time in America - This lovingly restored Extended Edition brings fans of the film even closer toSergio Leone's original vision. The footage from the theatrical cut looks better than it ever did and the additional footage helps supplement this epic story; Macbeth: The Criterion Collection - Roman Polanski's film is a marvelous display of how to combine novel interpretation with reverence into a complex, expressive new take on an oft-told story; and The Vincent Price Collection II - This is an excellent selection of some of Price's best and most enjoyed films presented with a very strong array of supplements. The high definition transfers offer substantial upgrades over previous DVD versions as well. Other recent reviews include: Run Silent Run Deep , Elmer Gantry, and Ghost in the Shell: 25th Anniversary Edition.  Visit the DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.
