TV on DVD: Arrow, South Park, and Daktari
Arrow: Season 2 Some great TV shows have made their way onto DVD this week including: Arrow: Season 2 - with fantastic character development, gripping storylines that never let go, some wonderful performances, and probably the best action sequences on all of television, this is one of the best shows on TV; South Park: Season 17 - this season has proven Trey Parker and Matt Stone still have plenty of gas left in the tank... everything you could possibly want is here: Social and political satire, the humiliation of obnoxious Hollywood celebrities, and best of all, the kids dressing up in their adventure garb and starting a multi-angled war, Game of Thrones style; and Daktari: The Complete Third Season - Perfect family entertainment for the smaller small fry: plenty of animals, lots of nonviolent action, and stories that won't tax them or insult you (too much). Other shows recently reviewed include:  NCIS: Season 11, Chicago P.D. - Season One, and Elementary: Season 2.  Want more?  Check out all of the TV on DVD reviews in the DVD Talk database.

DVD Savant: Ghostbusters, Across 110th Street, The Dogs of War
Ghostbusters This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews and articles including: Ghostbusters - For the 30th Anniversary Edition, Sony trots out new transfers and adds new extras with nostalgic memories from Ivan Reitman and Dan Aykroyd; Across 110th Street - It's not Blaxploitation, but a pure gangster drama that skips social messages in favor of straight-up action and suspense; and The Dogs of War - on-task mercenary tough guy Christopher Walken is beaten senseless during a reconnaisance/spy trip to a corrupt African dictatorship... he returns with a fighting force to kill the president and seize the country. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.

This Week's Notable Releases: The Rover, Firestorm, and Stagefright
The Rover Some pretty cool discs are being released this week. Check out these new titles: The Rover [review] - an unforgiving, violent, and ultimately meaningful look at a potential future where an economic collapse has left the world without a system of governance or really the general trappings of civilization; Firestorm [review] - one of the more entertaining action movies to come out this year and the presentation on this Blu-ray is excellent; and Stagefright [review] - this stalk-and-slash whodunit generates some nice tension, while allowing you to enjoy the cinematic prowess of one of Dario Argento's proteges. Other reviews of note include: Attack on Titan, Part 2 [review], Flesh + Blood [review], and The Great Train Robbery [review]. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.

Recent Reviews: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Young Frankenstein, and Spartacus
Captain America: The Winter Soldier Our reviewers have been busy this week, filling the DVD Talk Review Database more great entries. Some new reviews of note include: Captain America: The Winter Soldier - a genuine crowd pleaser, providing laughs, emotion, and thrills, while also giving a little more depth than your standard superhero movie... it's also the rare sequel that bests the original; Young Frankenstein: 40th Anniversary - a brilliant parody and the best work Mel Brooks has ever done... while the new releases does not offer anything new, if you don't already have this film on Blu, the quality presentation and fine extras are well worth owning; and Spartacus: The Complete Series - if you dig action and drama and intrigue and suspense all ramped up to ridiculous extremes, the show is a whole lot of fun. Other recent reviews include: The Originals: Season 1, Careful, He Might Hear You, and Hannibal: Season Two.  Visit the DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.
