This Week's Notable Releases: Aladdin, The Phantom of the Opera, and Call Me Lucky
Another banner week for DVDs with the studios releasing some great films and boxed sets such as:
Aladdin: Diamond Edition [review] - featuring terrific hand-drawn animation, a memorable score, plenty of laughs, and an extremely quick pace, this Disney film is still a family favorite ready to be enjoyed by a new generation; The Phantom of the Opera (1925/29) [review] - Boasting an excellent transfer and lots of good extras, viewing and listening options, Kino's Blu-ray gets our highest rating; and Call Me Lucky [review] - Bobcat Goldthwait directs this fascinating documentary on a man few know of but whose work has been impactful in two different areas beyond the immediate reach.
Other reviews of note include: Mosquito: 20th Anniversary Edition [review], Requiescant [review], and Hyde's Secret Nightmare [review].
