Movies in Theaters: Bridge of Spies, Room, and The Martian
Bridge of Spies Planning a trip to the local multiplex this weekend? Here are DVD Talk's reviews of the latest theatrical releases: Bridge of Spies - Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks team up once again for this film based on a true story of the terror of the Cold War, and it is bound to be a crowd-pleaser; Room - author and screenwriter Emma Donoghue has crafted an emotionally genuine film and stars Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay have delivered Oscar-caliber performances; and another look at The Martian - a rare combination of sci-fi action, A-list celebrity, and Oscar buzz. TV on DVD: The Flash, South Park, and Mythbusters

Going Back in Time - DVDTalk Interview with Jason Aron, Louis Krubich, and Lee Leshen
The Martian (3D) As we celebrate the 30th anniversary of Back to the Future, Jason Aron, Louis Krubich, and Lee Leshen took a look back at the film and the fandom it’s inspired in their new documentary Back in Time, which includes interviews with Steven Spielberg, Robert Zemeckis, Bob Gale, Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd and many more. The trio sat down for an interview of their own with DVDTalk’s Francis Rizzo III at New York ComicCon to talk about, among other topics, the importance of Dan Harmon to the film, the bonus features we can expect on the upcoming Blu-ray and the interviews they couldn’t get for the film. This Week's Notable Releases: Aladdin, The Phantom of the Opera, and Call Me Lucky
Aladdin: Diamond Edition Another banner week for DVDs with the studios releasing some great films and boxed sets such as: Aladdin: Diamond Edition [review] - featuring terrific hand-drawn animation, a memorable score, plenty of laughs, and an extremely quick pace, this Disney film is still a family favorite ready to be enjoyed by a new generation; The Phantom of the Opera (1925/29) [review] - Boasting an excellent transfer and lots of good extras, viewing and listening options, Kino's Blu-ray gets our highest rating; and Call Me Lucky [review] - Bobcat Goldthwait directs this fascinating documentary on a man few know of but whose work has been impactful in two different areas beyond the immediate reach.
