This Week's Notable Releases: Faust (1926), Living In Oblivion, and Pitfall
Faust (1926) Some pretty cool discs are being released this week. Check out these new titles: Faust (1926) [review] - F. W. Murnau was given carte blanche to bring to the screen his version of Goethe's classic tale, and the result is a magnificent silent classic; Living In Oblivion: 20th Anniversary Edition [review] - one of the funniest comedies of the '90s, and a big part of its lasting appeal came from Steve Buscemi's performance as an overtaxed director simply trying to finish his zero-budget indie film; and Pitfall [review] - a top tier film noir... It's suspenseful, exciting, occasionally quite twisted while at the same time delivering plenty of slick, visual style and some crafty, interesting characters to latch onto. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.
