This Week's Notable Releases: Faust (1926), Living In Oblivion, and Pitfall
Some pretty cool discs are being released this week. Check out these new titles:
Faust (1926) [review] - F. W. Murnau was given carte blanche to bring to the screen his version of Goethe's classic tale, and the result is a magnificent silent classic; Living In Oblivion: 20th Anniversary Edition [review] - one of the funniest comedies of the '90s, and a big part of its lasting appeal came from Steve Buscemi's performance as an overtaxed director simply trying to finish his zero-budget indie film; and Pitfall [review] - a top tier film noir... It's suspenseful, exciting, occasionally quite twisted while at the same time delivering plenty of slick, visual style and some crafty, interesting characters to latch onto.
