Recent Reviews: Of Mice and Men, The Southerner, and The American Friend
Our reviewers have been busy this week, filling the DVD
Talk Review Database more great entries. Some new reviews of note include:
Of Mice and Men - Gary Sinise's version of the John Steinbeck novel is an efficient, thoughtful adaptation of classic source material, made all the better by strong performances, great music, and very little dead weight; The Southerner - this touching family drama from Jean Renoir's American period is a forgotten gem, beautifully restored and nicely supplemented; and The American Friend: Criterion Collection - memorable performances from Bruno Ganz and Dennis Hopper highlight this excellent adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's Ripley's Game by Patricia Highsmith by director Wim Wenders.
