This Week's Notable Releases: Hardcore Henry, The Boy Who Cried Werewolf, and Pioneers of African American Cinema
Several great movies and programs have come out recently, including a few that shouldn't be missed:
Hardcore Henry - a movie that plays like a combination of the videogame Half-Life mixed in with a pinch of RoboCop... all within a beautiful, chaotic snow globe of a Russian dash cam video; The Boy Who Cried Werewolf - a briskly paced feature that has languished in obscurity for years now, the movie turns out to be a lot of fun thanks primarily to some great ‘old fashioned' style transformation effects; and Pioneers of African American Cinema - this massive 5-disc, set running over 21 hours total does a magnificent job presenting a nearly forgotten chapter in film history as well as African-American culture.
