Notable Releases: Running on Empty, Hell In The Pacific, and The Autopsy of Jane Doe
Some pretty cool discs have made their way to store shelves over the past couple of weeks. Check out these new titles:
Running on Empty - an excellent drama from director Sidney Lumet and writer Naomi Foner that stars River Phoenix, the film intriguingly grapples with universal issues of family bonding but under conditions that are uniquely fascinating; Hell In The Pacific - featuring two powerhouse lead actors (Lee Marvin and Toshiro Mifune) and their surprisingly low-key performances, John Boorman's early career highlight plays perfectly well almost 50 years later thanks to its universal themes, limited dialogue, and memorable characters; and The Autopsy of Jane Doe - enthusiastic performances from the minimal cast help to create an effective supernatural drama sprinkled with chilling moments.
