New Reviews: The Wall, Jacques Rivette, and The Zodiac Killer
Some cool discs have been reviewed over the past week. Check out these recent entries:
The Wall (2017) - a compelling and claustrophobic thriller that makes the most of its limited budget… Aaron Taylor-Johnson turns in a great performance, the cinematography is striking, and its brisk running time leaves little room for fat; The Jacques Rivette Collection - a trio of movies by Jacques Rivette have never received a proper home-video release in the US.. these are fascinating stylistic pastiches that merge theater, dance, music, and cinema in unexpected and sublime ways; and The Zodiac Killer - this film exists in some gritty netherworld between hard hitting true crime film and flat out exploitation picture, but it is nothing if not entertaining... fast paced, quirky, occasionally a little nasty this low budget oddity is a kick.
