New Reviews: The Long, Hot Summer, Ronin, and Betting on Zero
This week the DVD Talk Review Database has some great new entries, including a few discs you may have overlooked. Recent reviews include:
The Long, Hot Summer - a well-acted deep South melodrama, this film still manages to get by on raw charisma, committed performances, and top-notch cinematography; Ronin - well-drawn and surprising roguish characters are the driving force behind this heist movie. Add in a composed, subtly charismatic Robert De Niro and exceptional car-chase filmmaking, and you've got a fine embodiment of the genre; and Betting on Zero - a documentary about Herbalife - the company, the court cases, the sanctions… a film that tries to expose corruption to as many people as will look.
