The Aisle View: Stuck on You
Who would have guessed the Farrelly brothers would ever make a film that could be described as "sweet" and "cute"? Those are the most accurate words to describe their latest film "Stuck on You," starring Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear as a pair of conjoined twins - the focus of this week's The Aisle View. Also in this week's Aisle View column, critic Megan Denny confesses her love for actress Scarlett Johansson but cannot find similar affection for Johansson's latest film, Girl with a Pearl Earring. Just Announced DVDs
The biggest announcement this week is the long awaited Steven Spielberg's Academy Award Winning Schindler's List on 3/9 - which will be released in separate Widescreen, Fullscreen and a Collector's Box editions. If you're looking for something a little lighter the Coen Brother's latest film Intolerable Cruelty comes to DVD on 2/10 after very positive buzz in theaters. An even lighter film Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star comes to DVD on 2/17 it's typical David Spade sillyness, but that's not a bad thing. Fans of John Grisham books turned movies will be happy to hear that Runaway Jury will be released on DVD 2/17 [Review] but be prepared, the film differs greatly from the book. After a disastrously timed theatrical release (a war satire right after an invasion) Buffalo Soldiers comes to DVD on 1/13, the film stars Ed Harris, Scott Glenn, Anna Paquin and Joaquin Phoenix and with either find its audience on DVD or die trying. Speaking of films quickly in and out of theaters, Sylvia comes to DVD on 2/10 with Gwyneth Paltrow's portrayal of author and poet Sylvia Plath, the film got very mixed reviews theatrically and is a 'love it or hate it' kind of film.
