New Movie Reviews: Descent, Talladega Nights, and Night Listener
Descending on theaters this weekend is the incredibly frightening and claustrophobic The Descent. Neil Marshall's follow-up to his surprise werewolf hit, Dog Soldiers, finally comes to the US (albeit with a slighly different ending), and The Descent might just be the best horror film of the last ten years. Also in theaters this week is Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby - Will Ferrell is back to deliver more of the funny as a NASCAR driver named Ricky Bobby; The Night Listener - Robin Williams puts the comedy aside for another dramatic role that has critics buzzing; and Barnyard - this CGI flick about talking, singing, and dancing farm animals is clearly geared toward the kiddies. Be sure to catch reviews of other recent Theatrical Films: Shadowboxer, L.A. Riot Spectacular, Miami Vice, Clerks II, Little Miss Sunshine, Scoop, The Ant Bully, John Tucker Must Die, Brothers of the Head, Lady in the Water, Monster House. As always, we invite you to share your thoughts on films in theaters in our Movie Talk Forum Area.

DVD Savant Special Report: The British Censorship of From Russia with Love
This week The DVD Savant has a special update to a James Bond mystery that's been festering since it was first uncovered in 1997. Reader Gavin Salkeld caught The Savant's attention with an update about the mystery of the strange jump cut at the end of the 2nd James Bond film From Russia With Love. Gavin shares access to some revealing British Board of Film Classification documents that more or less close the door on the mystery of the missing dialogue line as well as the jump cut itself. Read this updated report. Also be sure to check out some of Savant's other Articles as well as his Over 1600 DVD Reviews.

TV on DVD Reviews: Comeback: CS, He-Man: S2, V1, and Curb Your Enthusiasm: S5
Some great TV on DVD releases reviewed this week including: The Comeback: The Complete Only Season - Lisa Kudrow stars in the only season of this under-seen gem of a hilarious (and very smart) satire; He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: S2, V1 - the second season of this classic animated series saw the creators exploring the backgrounds of their characters and taking some chances with more complex storylines; Curb Your Enthusiasm: S5 - the fifth season of Larry David's series might not be quite as stellar as previous years, but it still stands as one of the funniest shows on television; Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea: S1, V2 - there's more of the same fun and adventure to be found in the second-half of this Irwin Allen show's first season; Richard Pryor: Live in Concert - one of the most influential (and funniest) comedians in the history of comedy has never been better than he is in his first theatrical concert film; Columbo: S5 - the fifth season of this classic series maintains the high standards of previous years with some fresh mysteries and more great acting from Peter Falk. This Week's Notable DVDs: V for Vendetta, The Comeback and Girls Next Door
Some great notable DVDs out this week including: V for Vendetta [Review] - Natalie Portman is riveting in the film adaptation of this much heralded comic book, but the special edition DVD falls short; The Comeback [Review] - Lisa Kudrow's much maligned pseudo-reality show is actually well worth seeking out on DVD; Girls Next Door: S1 [Review] - a light an enjoyable series which takes you behind the scenes at the legendary Playboy Mansion. Other notable DVDs out this week include: Beavis & Butt-Head 3 [Review] , Broken Saints, Curb Your Enthusiasm: S5 and Mr. Moto Collection 1. New DVD Reviews: Inside Man, Hidden Blade and Apocalypse Now
Now with over 16,400 DVD reviews in the DVD Talk Review Database, it's easy to overlook some of the great reviews. Recent DVD Reviews include: Inside Man - Spike Lee plays it extremely safe in an entertaining film which barely shows his signature style or craft; The Hidden Blade - a stunning portrait just shy of perfection of late-Tokugawa Era daily life; Awesome: I Fuckin' Shot That! - The Beastie Boys give 50 fans cameras and unleash them to cover one hell of a concert; Apocalypse Now: The Complete Dossier - Apocalypse fans get almost everything they could ask for... except the legendary Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse which is tragically missing from DVD; Felicity - one of the finest, steamiest and most influential examples of the seventies skin flick; A Collection of 2005 Academy Award Nominated Short Films - an excellent opportunity to see quality short films in a solid collection. Visit the DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.
