TV on DVD: American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, Commando Cody, and The Magicians
American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson More TV shows have made their way on to DVD and Blu-ray, and DVD Talk has got them covered. Check out our reviews of the newest TV releases including: American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson - this Emmy-winning miniseries about the 'trial of the century' is quite good and quickly impresses us with its remarkable casting choices; Commando Cody: Sky Marshal of the Universe - this made-for-TV show that was first shown in theaters as a serial is a lot of goofy fun with some decent production values and a likable set of characters; and The Magicians: Season One - a contemporary fantasy show about modern-day users of magic, centered on a graduate school for "the arts" and the gifted individuals who have been admitted to the program... as well as those who weren't accepted. Want more?  Check out all of the TV on DVD reviews in the DVD Talk database.

This Week's Notable Releases: Blood Simple, Cat People, and Beware! The Blob
Blood Simple: The Criterion Collection Some pretty cool discs have made their way to store shelves over the past couple of weeks. Check out these new titles: Blood Simple: The Criterion Collection - The Coen Brothers' first film is a taut, superlatively-made thriller, and Criterion's release includes close to three hours of new bonus features including a pseudo-commentary and multiple newly-recorded interviews; Cat People - Jacques Tourneur's 1942 movie remains a genuinely great film, one that simultaneously brings things to a logical conclusion while still leaving plenty of ambiguity up in the air for us to think over long after the film finishes; and Beware! The Blob aka Son of Blob - this sequel to the 1958 horror classic is never scary, but it's quirky enough that it turns out to be an entertaining watch... fans of B-movies will get a kick out of this. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.

New Reviews: Captain America: Civil War, Aliens, and Cartoon Roots: The Bray Studios
Captain America: Civil War Some great DVD and Blu-ray reviews have been added to the the DVD Talk Review Database recently including: Captain America: Civil War - another great entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe that retained what made the previous movies fun while leading viewers into the darker woods of interpersonal battles; Aliens 30th Anniversary Edition - a nice repackaging of the 2011 Blu-ray release, this film plays a lot better than most modern action-suspense-sci-fi epics; and Cartoon Roots: The Bray Studios - an impressive and important overview of an undeservedly forgotten animation studio that is filled with some creative and funny films along with copious extras and informative liner notes. Visit the DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.
