Recent Notable Releases: The Passion of Joan of Arc, (Robert Altman's) Images, and Highway Dragnet
The Passion of Joan of Arc Several great movies and programs have come out recently, including a few that shouldn't be missed: The Passion of Joan of Arc - this movie has rightly stood the test of time as one of the most moving and effecting silent films ever made… Criterion includes an impressive array of supplements on this Blu-ray release; (Robert Altman's) Images - maverick filmmaker Robert Altman’s small-scale quasi-experimental psychological drama is challenging and not entirely successful but extremely well done on many levels; and Highway Dragnet - tense, well-acted and quite entertaining… takes the tried and true ‘wrongfully accused man goes on the run' motif and manages to present an engaging and gripping story out of what could have easily become a cliche. New Reviews: Lara Croft, The Mountain Between Us, and Hammer Films
Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (4K UHD) Some great DVD and Blu-ray reviews have been added to the the DVD Talk Review Database recently including: Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (4K UHD) - if you're the kind of person who can sit back and suspend your disbelief for a bit, you may find this film to be quite entertaining; The Mountain Between Us - a modestly entertaining romantic-drama featuring excellent performances from Kate Winslet and Idris Elba; and Hammer Films Double Feature - Never Take Candy From a Stranger / Scream of Fear - two outstanding, very different films from the modest British film company that still hold up remarkably well today. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.

Movies in Theaters: A Wrinkle in Time, Annihilation, and Red Sparrow
A Wrinkle in Time Before you head off to the cinema this week, check out DVD Talk's reviews of the latest releases including: A Wrinkle in Time - the entire film was like an episode of Wishbone, but far worse... like they gave millions of dollars to PBS and asked them to adapt a sci-fi book in four days; Annihilation - director Alex Garland has a unique vision for this film and he moved the plot along very well... the cinematography throughout was something magical to behold; and Red Sparrow - Jennifer Lawrence plays a ballerina with a ton of promise who, after being injured, enters a covert academy for spies. Check out these, and more, in DVDTalk's Theatrical Review section.
