Greetings! Savant's new reviews today are
Happy hot June .... Savant was just told that he has two desired Warners items on the way, the Grand Prix special edition and the Tough Guys Collection. Grand Prix should look and sound great; I remember it new but am not sure whether I saw it in 70mm ... probably not. In the "Tough Guys" set is City for Conquest, which is said to be a restoration of the original uncut version, not seen since ... a long time ago. The TV version we've seen has big ugly splices at the beginning and especially at the end, that break up the music and ruin the mood (it ends far too abruptly). Well, there are new scenes that go in both places. One of them apparently has more footage of Elia Kazan's acting role in the movie.
