Dragon Tales - Adventure in Dragon Land

The Show: Dragon Tales - The Adventure in Dragon Land DVD has 5 'adventures' from the popular animated children program. In all the five episodes total out to just over an hour of programming. Each episode focuses on the two main characters: a little boy and little girl and their adventures in the magical world of Dragon Land. The adventures aren't too compelling and range from finding a magic crayon to finding a baby dragon's 'squishy'. While one of the goals of Dragon Tales seems to be learning, it often feels secondary to the adventure. It would be very difficult to really distinguish Dragon Tales from any other Saturday morning cartoon.

The tone of Dragon Tales is very annoying, all the characters have high or silly voices that really wear on you after repeat viewing. I often groan when my daughter wants to watch Dragon Tales and often seem to get a headache from watching it with her. Having said that, Dragon Tales does really hold my toddler's attention and she often requests it from her own little DVD library.

The Picture: Presented in Full Frame Dragon Tales looks very good on DVD with very bright and vibrant colors. The animation style is pretty rudimentary and the simple lines are sharp and clear.

The Sound: Dragon Tales is presented in Dolby 2.0 Pro Logic and features and alternate Spanish language track. The sound quality matches the high quality of the picture.

The Extras: In addition to the 5 adventures, Dragon Tales Features 4 Sing Alongs taken from the end of most of the episodes.

Conclusion: I can't really recommend Dragon Tales, although my daughter seems to like it, the show really doesn't provide the kind of learning a children's show should. As an adult watching the show with my daughter it's a pretty miserable experience with a sonic assault that is anything but enjoyable.
