The Show: The Bear in The Big Blue House DVD features 3 half hour episodes, each focusing on a single concept or idea: shapes, sounds and colors. The concepts are taught through a series of songs, stories and scenes. Produced by Jim Henson Productions, the same company responsible for Sesame Street and The Muppets, Bear is destined to become another children's classic. As with Sesame Street Bear in the Big Blue house has its own regular cast of characters including 'Bear' the big friendly bear, Ojo the young cousin of Bear, Tutter a mouse with moxy, Trilo a wild and crazy limier, and Pip & Pop two enthusiastic otters. By the time you get to the third episode you get very familiar with each character each both loveable and quirky.

Bear in The Big Blue House is tons of fun, although the focus of the show is learning, each episode has a well written story and is peppered with lots of songs and plenty of wisecracks. I've now watched this DVD several times with my toddler and I still find it enjoyable for both of us. My daughter has simply fallen in love with Bear in The Big Blue house. She often requests we put the DVD on for her and often dances and claps to the songs.

The Picture: Presented in Full Frame Bear in The Big Blue house looks great on DVD. I've seen the show on Broadcast TV and there's no comparison, The DVD has much richer colors and a crystal clear picture.

The Sound: Bear is presented in 2.0 Dolby Pro Logic which is as clear and sharp as the picture.

Special Features: In addition to the 3 half hour episodes Bear in The Big Blue House also features 4 Sing-Along Songs with songs from each episode, this is a great feature, especially when your child is in a singing and dancing mood.

In addition to the Sing-Alongs the DVD features trailers for The Nuttiest Nutcracker, The adventures of Elmo in Grouchland and Stuart Little.

Conclusion: When it comes to children's programming there's none better than Bear in The Big Blue House, it's become a favorite with our toddler and regularly viewed DVD in our collection.
