Spongebob Squarepants – Fear Of A Krabby Patty is another one of the single disc compilations of Nickelodeon's famous and popular cartoon series. This time out, the episodes are selected from various different seasons rather than just one like they were with the last release, and things are mixed up a bit in terms of themes and episode selection, but it's still a great assortment of episodes from one of the finest animated series of the last ten years.

Here's the lowdown on this volume's selection…

Fear Of A Krabby Patty - The discs title episode finds Krabby Patty's competitor, Plankton, once again trying to steal the secret recipe that has made their little undersea restaurant such a smashing success with the citizens of Soggy Bottom. Mr. Krab, Squidworth and of course, Spongebob Squarepants will have to make sure that Plankton can't figure out their secrets no matter what it takes, but Plankton's bungling will ensure that it isn't all that difficult for them.

Shell Of A Man - Mr. Krab has started his yearly molting process just in time for a class reunion that he's supposed to be attending. Rather than show up all disheveled looking, he decides to dress up his favorite employee, Spongebob Squarepants, as himself and send him in his absence so that he can impersonate him. Of course, sending Spongebob to impersonate Mr. Krab is a terrible idea, and nothing goes right.

Arrgh! - Mr. Krab gets word of some treasure hidden around Soggy Bottom and he wants to head on out and discover it for himself so that he can live the rest of his life in luxury. The only problem is, it's going to be a lot of work and he won't be able to do it all himself so he talks Spongebob and his good buddy Patrick to aid him on his quest. As you can probably guess, things don't go exactly as Mr. Krab had hoped that they would.

Neptune's Spatula - When Spongebob Squarepants discovers a vat of ancient grease while at work one night, his curiosity is peaked. When he plays around with it a little more he discovers that the vat contains a magical spatula that once belonged to Neptune himself and which will make whoever wields it the greatest fry cook in the entire world. Spongebob grabs the spatula and heads out to put it to use. Hilarity ensues.

One Krab's Trash - Mr. Krab finds a goofy old hat that he doesn't want anymore and he convinces Spongebob to buy it off of him for the paltry sum of ten dollars. Soon though, Mr. Krab is regretting his decision because he finds out that the hat is quite rare and as such, it has a lot of value as a collector's item. He goes about trying to get the hat back from Spongebob without letting him know of its real value.

Mermaidman And Barnacleboy V - Something has snapped inside Barnacleboy's feeble mind and he's turned to the dark side. Mermaidman turns to Spongebob as well as his friends Patrick and Sandy Squidward to help him save Barnacleboy and stop him from making a huge and disastrous mistake before it's all too late.

Karate Choppers - Spongebob and Sandy have found a new way to have fun at the work place by karate sparring with each other around the building. Things start off innocently enough but soon the two of them take things just a little bit too far and Mr. Krab is starting to get annoyed with their behavior. Spongebob and Sandy keep pushing though, until Mr. Krab has to think seriously about letting Spongebob go.

I'm Your Biggest Fanatic - Spongebob Squarepants sure does love to go jellyfishing and when he finds out about a very exclusive and very fancy jellyfishing club, he wants nothing more than to get into that group. There are some pretty stern requirements for entry though, but Spongebob is willing to do whatever it takes, no matter how crazy it might make him look.

As is typical of the series in general, these episodes have got a lot of great gags that are funny for both kids and adults alike. In addition to the slapstick and sit gag humor that will appeal to children, the shows all have plenty of funny little pop culture references worked into them as well, which makes things interesting for older viewers who may not necessarily enjoy the more juvenile aspects of the series as much. Add to that a cast of likeable characters and a truly innocent sense of wide eyed wonder and fun and you've got yourself another winner.

Seeing as this is a TV show, it makes sense that the image is presented in its original fullframe 1.33.1 format. Just like the rest of the releases in this series, this compilation looks quite nice. Colors are bright and crisp and there isn't any print damage to speak of. There is a bit of edge enhancement and some shimmering effects in a few of the episodes, but other than that, these cartoons look pretty good and none of the video issues take your attention away from the on-screen action.
