Title: Transformers Energon: Megatron Resurrected

Body of Review: The second volume of the newest Transformer show, Transformers Energon, has a lot of action and excitement. Things really start heating up when the lead Decepticon, Megatron, is revived.

Parmount's handling of the Energon series leave a little to be desired.  In the first volume the edit out a couple of scenes, and with this volume they skip an episode.  Instead of starting this volume with episode 5, New Cybertron City, the DVD begins with the sixth program.  Granted, Megatron Resurrected is a great show to start the disc out with, but they could have put 5 shows on the DVD, especially since they are only about 22 minutes long.

As for the quality of this set of shows, I enjoyed this DVD more than the first one (reviewed here.)  The plot starts rolling along at a quicker pace when Megatron comes back to life, and the return of Starscream was a welcome sight.  Some fun shows on this DVD.

Episode 6 : Megatron Resurrected
A lot really happens in this episode. The Terroncons attempt to steal more Energon, but the Transformers are ready for them. When Tidal Wave and Cyclonus report their failure to the inert Megatron, they are surprised to find that he can talk! Alpha Q, the mysterious force behind the Terrorcons, has been using the Energon he's been stealing to resurect Unicron. But Megatron has been stealing energy from Unicron and has healed himself. Alpha Q has also made the mistake of thinking that he could control Megatron once he was revived. He should have known better.

Episode 7 : Megatron Raid
Megatron attacks Ocean City in order to get their supply of Energon. He too wants to resurrect Unicron in the hopes of manipulating the gigantic Transformer. Megatron encounters a former Decepticon, Demolisher, guarding Ocean City, and confronts his former comrade. Meanwhile Alpha Q recreates an familiar Decepticon, Starscream.

Episode 8 : Starscream, the Mysterious Mercenary
When Alpha Q revived Starscream he ran out of Energon before he could complete his body. Now the Decepticon is only semi-solid, more of a ghost than a real Transformer. Alpha Q explains the problem tells Starscream that he needs to kill Optimus Prime in order to get the Energon need to finish his resurrection. But how can Optimus fight someone he can't see?

Episode 9 : The Battle of the Asteriod Belt.
Kicker and the Autobots head out to the asteroid belt in search of Unicron. Megatron meets them out there and a battle ensues.

The DVD:

Extras: There were no extras on this disc.

Video: The full frame video looked pretty good for the most part. The colors were bright and vivid, and the lines were tight. There was a fair amount of aliasing however, and fine lines had a tendency to shimmer. Other than that, the disc looked about average.

Audio: The stereo surround soundtrack sounds like a typical TV show. There isn't a lot of bass. The battle scenes had a lot of flashy sound effects but they didn't have a lot of impact. Some use was made of the soundstage, though not as much as they could have. There wasn't any hiss or audio defects and the audio is otherwise solid.

Final Thoughts: This series is starting to grow on me slowly. Though I still don't think it is one of the best Transformer series, it is getting better as it goes on. My two sons thought it was great, and I'm sure other young boys will to. Though I wish that Paramount hadn't felt the need to skip an episode, this is still worth checking out. Die hard Transformer fans should pick up a copy, but others can settle for a rental.
