Ahh, golf. Is there any sport more contemplative and/or frustrating? Do a little homework on your duffing – this three-disc set covers everything from power to consistency to "ups and downs"; it's a well-crafted collection of lessons that help break golf tips to their essence, making it easy for anyone to follow along at home. It's basically an issue of Golf Magazine come to life through your DVD player – which I imagine is what anyone picking up this set would expect and want.

The "More" series is split across three hour-long discs – the first disc covers tips on how to achieve more power, the second disc covers tips on how to be more consistent and the final disc covers tips on how to improve your up and down game. Professional instructors from Craig Shankland to Scott Sackett to Laird Small appear here, walking you through brief vignettes that break each individual tip down visually and textually. Some of the tips included are finding your power sources; preparing for shots; mastering the slice; honing your backswing; fine-tuning your short game; transferring your weight and reading the green – helpfully, each tip is introduced with a text screen detailing the pro's qualifications.

This instructional DVD set would seem like a great buy for those looking to gain an edge with their game – it's reasonably priced for a three-disc set and packed with information, broken down into accessible chunks for those who might need help with one area explored here but not necessarily all areas covered.

The DVD

The Video:

Each how-to clip is presented in clear, clean 1.33:1 fullscreen that looks fantastic – there's no defect or blemish that distracts from the lessons being imparted onscreen. A very smooth, slick image.

The Audio:

Presented in Dolby 2.0 stereo, The More Series sounds clean and free of distortion throughout. There's scant ambient natural noise included during each tip, but it doesn't distract from the instructor, who's always heard clearly.

The Extras:

Each disc contains identical bonus features: a four-minute, 42 second featurette detailing "The History of the Top 100 Teachers in America"; a four-minute, 27 second behind-the-scenes look at "The Making of Golf Magazine Top 100 Teachers in America: The More Series"; a screen with contact information for Golf Magazine; credits and two brief commercials for The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona and The Grand Cypress Academy of Golf in Orlando, Florida.

Final Thoughts:

A well-made set that details specific tips for those seeking an edge on the greens, Golf Magazine Top 100 Teachers in America: The More Series would make a great gift for the duffer in your life or if you hit the links regularly, a great blind buy. Recommended.
