Synopsis: Somewhere in an Ocean/Sea(we are never told which one), a Russian sattelite ship prepares for a download of information from the Mir space station. As the download commences Mir passes through an energy source of somekind that trashes it's systems & is sent to the ship on earth. Once received, it also wreaks the same havoc on the ship & everything goes dark. Caught in a storm some miles from the vessel, a tug boat captained by Donald Sutherland is making it's way to port. Unable to successfuly navigate the storm, the tug's load is lost at sea and all the financial gain their load would have afforded them is taken to the bottom. Suddenly, sonar picks up the Russian sattelite ship & the Tug makes it's way their. Once on board, the crew are first dumbfounded (emphasis on the dumb) as to the ships' company & crew. Then their concern turns to elation as they consider the salvage rights possible on a ship of this size & make. However, all is not well on the vessel. It would appear that the electrical surge from the Mir was more than just that. It was a life form that is electrical in nature that has found it's way to earth & feels all humans are a...you guessed it a virus. Battles ensue & Jamie Lee curtis, Donald Sutherland & Billy Baldwin attempt to defeat the life form before it kills all of them as well.

Audio: 5.1 digital soundtrack that delivers the shrill cries & shrieks of the film & reviewer quite well.

Overall: This movie is awful! It borrowed from every science fiction movie you can think of. There are elements of the Borg, Saturn 3 & deep Rising just to name a few. The acting & dialogue is so bad at times that it is really painful to continue. The plot is really basic & you already know who will die & who will live before the credits stop rolling at the start of the film. I couldn't think of a worse way to spend two hours...oops almost forgot about Wing Commander! I want my time back! Skip this dud. Not even worth a rental.
