Jamie Kennedy is an actor best known for his feature film roles in Scream, Malibu's Most Wanted, and Son of the Mask, as well as his television series The Jamie Kennedy Experience. Jamie Kennedy: Unwashed The Stand-Up Special attempts to show you a side of Kennedy that most do not know of, a stand-up comic. In this less than forty-eight minute feature (including opening and ending credits), Kennedy performs in front of a sold out audience at the San Jose Theater. He focuses on some raunchy, racy, eye-opening comedy to entertain. The DVD also comes with a variety of extras in which Kennedy does some goofy things.

As an actor, Jamie Kennedy has never registered on my celebrity radar. I barely recall him in Scream and Malibu's Most Wanted was so utterly terrible I had to block it out of my mind. I have never seen his television series and have no desire (prank comedy is not my thing). Regardless, I sat down to watch Jamie Kennedy: Unwashed not quite knowing what to expect. I found Kennedy is a funny guy and his crude humor ignited some hearty laughs.

The specific content includes twenty-seven different bits, which you can watch all together or jump to a specific bit using the DVD menus. Here's the list of the jokes Jamie covers with some brief overview of what they entail.

1. San Josizzle: Jamie's first bit, where he says San Jose in a mocking voice with the word hizzle and other variations
2. White Kids' Ghetto: Jamie makes fun of white people who act like they are from the ghetto
3. Ashton: Jamie pokes fun at Ashton Kutcher and MTV's Punk'd with a decent impression
4. The Bachelorette: talks about how he likes The Bachelor and doesn't like The Bachelorette due to the guy/girl ratio
5. Nascar Guys: talks about how Nascar guys get sexually excited about their cars
6. Larry The Cable Guy: GIT-R-DONE!
7. British Cops: jokes about a British version of COPS with a British accent
8. Server Gets Served: starts a joke about waitresses and he's corrected by a woman in the audience who corrects him about the proper term being server, not waitress. Jamie proceeds to make fun of her
9. Ozzy: talks about how he can't understand The Osburnes. He supplements the discussion with some hilarious impressions and physical comedy
10. Harry Potter/Nimbus Broom: imitates a homosexual Harry Potter and jokes about a vibrating broom (very disturbing)
11. Dr. Phil: imitates Dr. Phil and how he helps guests on his show
12. Eddie's "Hey": Eddie Murphy impression of Donkey, Shrek
13. Hot Cousin: jokes about incest
14. Dad's Sex Education: an indifferent approach to learning about sex
15. Altar Boy: what it was like being an altar boy, through the eyes of a ten year old and experiences in the communion process. He also makes a crude joke about Catholic priests molesting young boys
16. Mentally Challenging: jokes about the differences between mentally challenged and retarded
17. Smoke Pot, Get Paid: jokes about how would you goof off on a job where you smoked pot
18. Foreign Airlines: turbulence in a foreign language, nothing scarier! Impersonates and jokes about Japanese accents. He also does a brief bit on Mexican accents
18a. Fluffers*: jokes about what it would be like to be a male fluffer in the adult industry
19. Duck Women: women in Beverly Hills and too much plastic surgery
20. N.Y. Phil: jokes about New York pride
21. British Porno: British porn is too polite for Jamie's tastes
22. Funny Yet Dangerous: women like men who are funny, yet dangerous
23. 62 Menage A Trois: a guy brags about having sixty-two threesomes with the same dude
24. Can You Feel That?: why you shouldn't say certain things while having sex
25. Cats & Dogs Having Sex: impersonations of cats and dogs having sex
26. Demon Girl: innocent girls who get really nasty during sex
27. Ending Credits: various individuals from the audience are quickly interviewed

* Fluffers is contained in the same chapter with bit #18 Foreign Airlines and it is not shown as an individual bit, but it is clearly unrelated to the airlines joke. Thus, it is listed as a separate bit.

Overall, I can say watching Kennedy in action was an experience. Several of the jokes left me with a hearty laugh (specifically Ozzy, Eddie "Hey", Altar Boy, N.Y. Phil). The jokes I enjoyed the most were impersonations with some graphic physical comedy. In the end, I think this stand-up performance makes for a good watch if you enjoy raunchy comedy, but it has low replay value. I enjoyed it, but I can not imagine ever wanting to watch it again.

The DVD

Video:
The video is given in 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color. The picture quality for this video transfer is pretty good. There are some evident compression artifacts, but nothing really bad. The picture is pretty clear and clean.

Audio:
The audio track supplied with this release comes in English 2.0 stereo sound. The audio quality varies. The problem is that it was recorded live and while Jamie does his bits and impressions, the pitch of his voice changes, how loud he is, distance from the microphone, etc. The track ends up having a variable volume with some portions too loud (and somewhat clear) and other difficult to make out. In the end, I wasn't happy with having to rapidly adjust the volume to hear and rewind when I missed something. This release also comes with English subtitles.

Extras:
Offstage/Backstage (10:31) is a collection of additional bits and footage that were not filmed during the stand-up performance. They include "Morning Zoo", Jamie guest stars on a radio show early in the morning, "The Student Prank", a local college student interviewed Jamie with a set of odds questions, "The Baby Bit", Jamie tries to convince Al Berman use his baby joke, "How To Get A Standing O", how to force the crowd into a standing ovation, "Spa Story", Jamie talks about a guy with a big penis at the spa, and "Some People Smash Guitars...", Jamie smashes his computer. The volume on these is awful. The sound is distorted and it is very hard to hear.

Jokes That Weren't Funny Enough (4:20) is a collection of bits from the stand-up performance that were removed from the feature. They include "CSI", Jamie jokes about how sexual CSI is, "DCCC", Delaware County Community College, "Joe Millionaire", pokes fun at Joe Millionaire, "Ham Lady (Or The Art Of Bailing Out Of A Bit)", a bit about when he worked in a grocery store holding a tray of sample foods, and "The Invention Of Tequila", a bad joke with Mexican impressions about the formulation of the alcoholic beverage.

Final Thoughts:
Jamie Kennedy is an actor I have never paid any attention too. What I have seen of his work has left me far from impressed. When I started this stand-up feature, I was not sure what to expect. I found Kennedy to be a fun guy who had several racy jokes with lots of impersonations and physical comedy to get some laughs. In the end, I think this release is worth checking out if you enjoy stand-up performances, but I wouldn't invest any money in it. There is little replay value from the feature or the extras.
