The box art for "8 Seconds" seems designed to inspire giggles. Yes, "8 Seconds" is a rodeo movie, but it's more than just a guy riding bulls (although you do get quite a bit of that). It's more of a story about how some people search for stardom for the wrong reasons; "8 Seconds" could've just as easily been about a struggling musician whose marriage suffers due to an insatiable drive for popularity. The bull-riding is secondary, but "8 Seconds" is more of a love story than an action movie of any sort. I don't particularly enjoy love stories or rodeos, so obviously "8 Seconds" didn't do a whole lot for me. Despite my lack of interest, it's certainly not a bad movie, and I recommend "8 Seconds" as a rental to anyone who has read this far into the review.

Video: As with everything New Line releases, the video is top-notch, which is what you'd expect of a transfer for a fairly recent movie. This is one of the few discs I've seen where the widescreen & full-frame versions are on one side and selected through the menu, which is a nice touch.

Audio: Again, New Line consistently delivers great sounding audio, and "8 Seconds" is no exception. This is a dialogue driven movie, and every bit of speech is clear and crisp. Country music fans will probably enjoy the soundtrack, which is well-mixed but didn't really appeal to me.

Extras: The only extra is the theatrical trailer. Perhaps some more information on the life of Lane Frost would've been a nice addition, especially a featurette of some sort.

Conclusion: If the thought of watching a love story revolving around cowboys and rodeos for an hour and a half doesn't turn you off, you ought to rent "8 Seconds".
