Only one thing can come to mind when thinking of Power International's Venice Holiday DVD, "Worst DVD Ever."

If you caught that Simpsons joke then you'll enjoy this disc for what it truly is, the worst compilation job on a DVD I've ever seen. This disc was produced in Taiwan and China and obviously not intended for a wide American release. There are plenty of options for watching the disc and all of them offer a laugh or two.

Subtitles are available to explain the handheld shot footage of Venice that you will be seeing. If English is the language you prefer, then be ready for a lose translation. There are grammatical errors throughout the translation that are obvious to all. If you choose for the narration instead, be ready for a poorly read, misinterpreted reading of the subtitles. The woman reading the text mispronounces words, stutters and completely flubs some of the lines. The budget must have not allowed retakes, because every mistake is in this disc.

Just reading the back of the box gives you an idea of the ride you're in for:

Welcome to be new century explorer! … Due to the special geography of Venice, it is like a dream city to the visitors. Shinning from the water in any season with special language it contains numerous treasures, no matter the antiquity, sightseeing or culture and arts. In addition to the hospitality of the citizens, all makes this city unique in the world.
I'm sure you're as confused as I am after reading that and it's not much better in the DVD.

The Video: As I mentioned above, it looks as if it were done on a handheld Digital Video Camera. It's not bad looking, but not as crisp, bright and colorful as I would think a travel video should look. The scenes shown are not particularly breathtaking either.

The Audio: The one decent part of the disc is the 5.1 Jazz that can be listened too while watching the video. It's not top-notch music and some of it is short, but it's a nice part in this mess of a DVD. Audio is also available in English, Japanese, Chinese, Cantonese, and Taiwanese.

The Extras: There are no true extras on this disc. The Tourist Guide just takes you to specific stops in the footage and the only other thing that could be considered are the audio and subtitle options.

Overall: This disc is barely worth the plastic it's pressed on. It's a good laugh if you saw it somewhere for $1, but not worth much else. Definitely a skip. What else would you expect from a disc that lists the English subtitles as Engkish (sic).
