Part Monty Python, part Tool Time and part Canadian humor; Red Green is the comedy show for those pleased by subtle humor. Aired sporadically on PBS and other outlets in America, Red Green has probably been surfed upon by everyone at one time or another in its ten-year history.

Red (Steve Smith) is the leader of a group of local yokels who hang out at the Possum Lodge. They practice everything from outright comedy to home-improvement tips on how turn a few old toilets and your sewer system into an efficient home intercom system. The show is a mix of skits, parodies of instructional and home movies and Red's trips and adventures in the Lodge land.

Everyone won't like this. The humor at times is slow and misses the mark on a few occasions, but it's worth the wait in every episode for the few gems that arise. For instance, in the episode Car Pool there is a video that follow Red and another friend as they travel though the woods cutting down a tree. When the chainsaw they are using breaks, his companion pulls out what Red calls a new, mini-chainsaw. In actuality it's a hand-pruning saw that most will recognize. Combined with a cheesy sound effect and vigorous shaking, the illusion is almost complete.

The disc is full of other moments like this that truly shine above other, especially American, comedy that is being produced today. Containing 10 episodes (Car Pool, The Owl Project, Men's Night on the Mountain, Sedgwick the Tenant, The Winter Carnival, Mad About You, Too Much Information, and No Duct Tape) everyone will be able to pick out a favorite moment.

The Video: There are several sources being used here for the show. While it's not the greatest quality, there are blurry moments and loss if definition, the show holds up well. It's easily watchable and the video distracts in the least.

The Sound: The sound is similar to the video. It's standard Dolby digital stereo mix that does little to take advantage of the technology.

Extras: Another disc that has little extras, there are character bios and an episode select screen.

Overall: Fans of the show should pick it up, and casual interest should pick up the for ands evening rental.
