Movie: This was one of those chick flicks I had heard about that focused mostly on divorce but showed it almost exclusively from the woman's point of view. Written and Co-Produced by Steve Martin's (former?) main squeeze, Victoria Tennant, it detailed the struggles of two women from opposite ends of the spectrum who are brought together while dealing with the aftermath of their quickie divorces in Reno, NV. Stockard Channing played an older woman who's husband of 9 years has found someone younger and better while Jennifer Tilly is a younger gal who's getting divorced from a guy she hasn't seen in years in order to remarry. Along the way, they meet a guy who is so well known in Reno that virtually everyone the threesome meet, knows what he drinks, what he eats, or even where he hangs out. The cast is littered with lots of cameos by well known character actors and actresses who seem to be amused with the whole thing too. Randy Travis evens gets to sing a song at the end. The movie was filmed in 1996 and at times appears somewhat dated by the central themes which should've stood true even to today.

Picture: The picture was presented in full frame pan & scan which is not, I believe, the original ratio. The movie looked a bit off in terms of colors and there were some artifacts present on occasion.

Sound: The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby stereo. I didn't notice any glitches here but I was trying to keep the story straight so if I missed anything, it couldn't have been too major a problem.

Extras: There was a paper dvd catalog inserted in the dvd case as well as a list of chapters. Not much.

Final Thoughts: The movie was probably marketed towards bitter women more than a single guy such as myself but it had more than a few moments where I smiled, if not actually laughed. I'd suggest it as a rental for lonely women who want to beat up on men more than any other audience as some of the dialogue really could've used some more polish. It wasn't horribly bad but it wasn't enough to justify spending so much on such a no-frills dvd either. Pass it up unless you're the specific target market.
