Movie: The movie centered around a martial artist/superhero in medieval Chungwon who fought various ninja gangs and other super powered enemies while trying to restore law and order to the province. The strongest opponent was his brother, a man transformed into a demon of sorts by a potion he was forced to take. In all, the main theme of fighting in chop socky fashion with a sorcerous touch was combined with a woman's search for her missing father. Granted, it was a bit loosely put together but worth a rental for genre fans.

Picture: The picture was presented in 1.85:1 widescreen and was a bit dark but that suited the subject matter. The animation style was a bit limited too with the usual loops on many of the background movements and limited movement of the main characters.More often than not, the picture was a bit out of focus too.

Sound: The sound choices were a 5.1 Dolby Digital track and a 2.0 Dolby track, both in English. With the advent of dvd, it would've been nice to have the original audio here but it wasn't bad for it's limitations.

Extras: There's a section with character identities called a Rogue's Gallery, a photogallery, the usual trailers and dvd catalog.

Final Thoughts: I've seen much better but adolescents who revel in the added swear words and gratuitous violence will probably like it a lot more than I did. Manga has a lot of better to offer but this one isn't the worst I've seen from it's original time frame of the mid 90's. Lots of stereotypical characters and action for those who don't like change.
