The Movie: I really didn't have any inclination to see this movie. I had avoided it in theaters, but when the option of viewing it on DVD came my way, I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, even though both DeNiro and Hoffman turn in great performances, the movie itself doesn't really ever get going. DeNiro plays an ex-cop who suffers a stroke while trying to defend his abode. With very limited speech and movement, he hires the drag queen who lives near him in the apartment for speech therapy (the same one he has bashed because of his homophobia in the past). Schumacher tries to tell the stories of DeNiro, Hoffman (the draq queen), and another story involving cash and drug dealers. They ultimately come together in the end, but until then, the movie is just too fragmented and doesn't work.

The Picture: The picture is (pardon the pun) flawless. The 1.85:1 anamorphic transfer looks superb. The colors are vibrant and the blacks are perfect. There were no visible pixelation problems and despite the quality of the film, the picture is great.

The Sound: This movie is primarily dialogue-driven, but there are some parts with music and some action scenes which showcase the audio. I didn't notice any problems and the surround sound is nicely utilized throughout with mainly ambient sounds.

The Extras: Not really any special extras - has the usual trailers and filmographies. The booklet included has a couple little trivia blurbs, but nothing special. Not worth the $25 price tag.

Conclusion: Although the disc has nice picture and audio quality, along with strong performances by the two leading men, the movie itself is sub-par (in my opinion) and not worth the $25 price tag. If you liked the movie, go for it - it's a nice disc. If not, stay away.
