Scooby Doo's Original Mysteries
Theatrical Trailers, Dolby Digital Mono Soundtrack, Scooby Doo Music Video, Four Sampler Songs, Scooby Snacks Recipes.
The Episodes: The disc includes the series pilot, What a Night for a Knight, plus four regular episodes: : Hassle in the Castle, A Clue for Scooby-Doo, Mine Your Own Business and Decoy for a Dognapper. They are the first few episodes and (in my opinion) aren't as good as later episodes.
Picture:
The picture of these episodes doesn't appear to have been cleaned up much, and while the picture is fine, it looks like it could due with some better cleaning up to bring out the colors and fix the imperfections in the transfer.
Sound:
The sound, while mono, is quite audible and (when forced into stereo) really does sound fine. A Dolby Digital 5.1 remix of Scooby Doo might be a bit excessive. Although you would have hoped the saved cost of not having to do that would make the DVD cheaper.
The Extras:
The extras, while not related to the episodes, are kind of interesting. Mostly the "Scooby Snacks" recipes were pretty neat, and I plan on trying the sandwich mentioned (A sandwich with mayo and chocolate bars, yum). There are trailers for other episodes and such, presumably the next sets to come out on DVD.
Conclusion:
If you like Scooby Doo, get it, I'm sure you'll love it. If you are looking for extras, the ones are the disc aren't that great. My chief problem with the disc is the high price many places ask, and while there are 5 episodes on the disc, I still think it should be priced lower.
