Silent DVD: 2005 San Francisco Silent Film Festival
In Silent DVD this week we have complete coverage of the 10th Annual San Francisco Silent Film Festival. Once again this year a series of rare, entertaining, and mesmerizing films were screened with live music on a large screen in front of an appreciative audience. Held once again in the magnificent Castro Theater, a film palace that was opened in 1921, this is just the way silent movies were intended to be seen. The SF Silent Film Fest is the premier event of this type in the country and is something all fans of silent film should try to attend at least once. Also this week we have some news about the upcoming release of a boxed set of Harold Lloyd films, straight from Susan Lloyd, and info on the upcoming Greta Garbo collection of silent films. Be sure to check out our coverage of last year's San Francisco Silent Film Festival, as well as the Treasures from American Film Archives - Encore Edition and the excellent The Forgotten Films of Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle collection.
