New DVD Reviews: 3rd Rock From The Sun, Guess Who and He-Man
With literally thousands of DVD Reviews (over 12,400 reviews!) in the DVD Talk Review Database it's easy to miss some of the notable reviews written by our staff. Recent DVD Reviews include: Guess Who - a surprisingly fun light comedy featuring stellar work by Bernie Mac; The Best of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe - fantastic for nostalgia value alone and the extras and great quality are nice touches; 3rd Rock from the Sun - Season 1 - one of the richest and hilarious television comedies to air on TV; Bill and Ted's Most Excellent Collection - two enjoyable films and a third disc with some enjoyable bonus material; My Wife Is A Gangster 2 - ranks right up there with some of the best Korean comedies. Silent DVD: 2005 San Francisco Silent Film Festival
In Silent DVD this week we have complete coverage of the 10th Annual San Francisco Silent Film Festival. Once again this year a series of rare, entertaining, and mesmerizing films were screened with live music on a large screen in front of an appreciative audience. Held once again in the magnificent Castro Theater, a film palace that was opened in 1921, this is just the way silent movies were intended to be seen. The SF Silent Film Fest is the premier event of this type in the country and is something all fans of silent film should try to attend at least once. Also this week we have some news about the upcoming release of a boxed set of Harold Lloyd films, straight from Susan Lloyd, and info on the upcoming Greta Garbo collection of silent films.
