New Movie Reviews: Wicker Man, Crank, and This Film Is Not Yet Rated
Nicolas Cage takes a ride on the remake bandwagon by starring in The Wicker Man - Neil LaBute's take on one of the creepiest (and strangest) films of the 1970s. With a strong cast including Cage, Ellen Burstyn, and Leelee Sobieski, The Wicker Man may not be quite as odd and engaging as the original film, but still packs in some interesting moments. Also in theaters this week is Crank - Jason Statham is back in another adrenaline-filled actioner, this time playing a hit man with 24 hours to cure himself of a deadly poison; This Film Is Not Yet Rated - Kirby Dick's latest documentary is a fascinating investigation of the often mind-boggling decisions of the MPAA; and The Quiet - Jamie Babbit's first dramatic effort (starring Elisha Cuthbert and Camilla Belle) is "a smart thriller by people who realize that the scariest things in life are what we can do to each other." Be sure to catch reviews of other recent Theatrical Films: Lassie, Crossover, Trust the Man, Invincible, Beerfest, How To Eat Fried Worms, Bandidas, Snakes on a Plane, The Illusionist, Accepted, Factotum, World Trade Center, Material Girls, Step Up. As always, we invite you to share your thoughts on films in theaters in our Movie Talk Forum Area.
