DVD Savant: Frankenstein, Dracula and The Classic Sci-Fi Collection
This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: The Classic Sci-Fi Ultimate Collection - The Land of Laemmle offers us five Monster classics of the 50s, a couple of near-greats and a pair of groaners to round out a three disc set; Frankenstein 75th Anniversary Edition - Universal's third visitation of its original horror classic offers a number of classy extras; Dracula 75th Anniversary Edition - This third dip with The Count corrects a few audio fumbles in previous editions; So Ends Our Night - A Classic that Never Was about a subject that Americans didn't want to see in February of 1941; Jigoku - this eerily transgressive Japanese oddity really drips with gore. The Assassination of Trotsky - Richard Burton makes a fine senior-citizen Bolshevik but Alain Delon's conflicted killer is a drag. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
