This Week's Notable DVDs: The Smothers Brothers, Young@Heart, and Pushing Daisies
Another banner week for DVD releases with everything from classic comedy to offbeat documentaries turning up on store shelves. This weeks top titles include: The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour: The Best of Season 3 [review] - even though (contrary to what is implied in the box description) these are edited versions of the program, it's still one of the funniest and most controversial shows ever to air on TV; Young@Heart [review] - a charming and affectionate look at some remarkable people who have discovered the timeless magic of music; and Pushing Daisies - The Complete First Season [review]- an utterly unique, original, bizarre and simply wonderful series.; Other releases of note
include: An American in Paris: Two-Disc Special Edition [review], Charlie Chan Volume 5 [review] which includes Charlie Chan in Panama, Charlie Chan's Murder Cruise, Charlie Chan at the Wax Museum, Murder Over New York (all 1940), Dead Men Tell, Charlie Chan in Rio (1941), and Castle in the Desert (1942), and Chuck - The Complete First Season [review].
