This month and every month Anime Talk brings you the latest information and reviews on Japanese Animation. The dust hasn't quite settled yet from the anime industry's turmoil, but there are some silver linings in the clouds ahead. FUNimation has started releasing Geneon shows, ADV and VIZ are practicing business as usual, and Bandai is heating up the charts with titles such as Gurren Lagann and Code Geass. It's safe to say that the coming months are going to be interesting, but in the meantime here is a list of anime you may have missed from the past month!

New Movie Reviews: Lakeview Terrace, Ghost Town, and My Best Friend's Girl
Neil LaBute tries on a paycheck directing gig guiding Samuel L. Jackson and Patrick Wilson in the racially-charged thriller Lakeview Terrace. DVD Talk critics Brian Orndorf and David Walker face the wrath. Ricky Gervais can speak to the dead, and the dead need plenty of relationship assistance in the dramedy Ghost Town. Brian Orndorf and Randy Miller III discuss the picture. And Dane Cook returns to prove he's completely unable to pick good material in My Best Friend's Girl. Also in theaters: John Cusack and Molly Shannon help voice the scares in the animated horror comedy Igor. The complexities of the 1999 WTO riots are dramatized by Stuart Townsend and a star-studded cast in Battle in Seattle. Keira Knightley is strapped into a corset and sent through the royal paces in The Duchess. And Germany offers their take on Carnival of Souls in the wonderfully acted mystery Yella. Be sure to catch reviews of other recent Theatrical Films: Burn After Reading, Righteous Kill, The Women, The Family That Preys, Towelhead, Sukiyaki Western Django, Bangkok Dangerous, Mister Foe, Babylon A.D., Disaster Movie, Traitor, The House Bunny, Tropic Thunder, Mamma Mia!, and The Dark Knight. As always, we invite you to share your thoughts on films In Theaters in our Movie Talk Forum.

TV on DVD: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Presidents, and Life
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Season 3 Some of the best selling DVDs right now are TV shows. The demand keeps increasing and DVD Talk continues to review them. Recent TV on DVD reviews include: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Season 3 - Crass, insensitive and funny as hell, this show is a cartoon come to life; The Presidents Collection - a grouping of ten epic biographies of 20th Century American Presidents which are consistently excellent, often superb, and never less than engrossing; and Life: Season One [second review] - a program that contains excellent casting, great writing, and just the right touches to transcend the usual cop show elements. Other shows recently reviewed include:  The Big Bang Theory - The Complete First Season, Last of the Summer Wine: Vintage 1977, and Delicious Proposal, a Korean TV drama.  Want more?  Check out all of the TV on DVD reviews in the DVDTalk database.

Recently Announced DVDs: The Shawshank Redemption, Murnau, Borzage, and Heathers
The Shawshank Redemption There are some great new titles that are going to come out in the next couple of months. Recently announced releases include: The Shawshank Redemption [Blu-ray] - one of the greatest movies of all time arrives on Blu-ray just in time for the holiday season on 12-2-08; One item that's surely going to be on my wish-list this year is Fox's impressive Murnau, Borzage and Fox Box Set. A followup to last year's Ford at Fox set, this collection will feature 12 films from the Hollywood legends, an all-new feature length documentary, and two exclusive hard-cover books. It will be released on 12-9-08; and the black comedy Heathers arrives on Blu-ray on 11-18-08. Other newly announced titles include: Two Tigers on 11-25-08, and Saturday Night Live: Complete Fourth Season on 12-2-08. Keep track of all the upcoming DVDs with the DVDTalk Release List.

DVD Savant: Errol Flynn, Twenty-Four Eyes, and Television Under the Swastika
Errol Flynn: The Warner Bros. Western Collection This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: Errol Flynn: The Warner Bros. Western Collection - Errol shoots straight in four oaters stretching from 1940 to 1950, when he rode the range for the last time: Virginia City, San Antonio, Montana, Rocky Mountain. Stocked with plenty of Warners Night at the Movies extras; Twenty-Four Eyes - Keisuke Kinoshita's tale of twenty years in the life of a rural Japanese schoolteacher is unabashed sentimentality ... and extremely effective. Hideko Takamine plays a young teacher who must follow her students through an economic depression, government pressure and the war years; and Television Under the Swastika - Michael Kloft comes through again with ultra-rare film on a fascinating subject -- Nazi television broadcasts, the world's first regularly scheduled programming. While charting the technical progress of the newborn medium, the show gives us an unique look at everyday National Socialist propaganda. Hitler's TV programs tow the party line and ridicule other points of view. Hmmmm. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
