New Movie Reviews: Righteous Kill, Burn After Reading, and Sukiyaki Western Django
It's an acting team formed in the cinema heavens. It's a motion picture that's ready for the bottom shelf at a video store. Robert De Niro and Al Pacino meet up for Righteous Kill. DVD Talk Critics Brian Orndorf and Jamie S. Rich assess the long awaited pairing. The Coen Brothers return with George Clooney and Brad Pitt as total idiots in black comedy Burn After Reading. Brian Orndorf and David Walker rate the morons. And Takashi Miike embraces spaghetti westerns with his wild valentine Sukiyaki Western Django. Also in theaters: Tyler Perry is back with the charged melodrama The Family That Preys. Diane English directs Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, and a cast of many ladies in the dramedy The Women. And Alan Ball follows-up "American Beauty" with the uncomfortable sexual, domestic, and psychological abuse chronicle Towelhead. Be sure to catch reviews of other recent Theatrical Films: Bangkok Dangerous, Mister Foe, Babylon A.D., Disaster Movie, College, Another Gay Sequel: Gays Gone Wild!, Traitor, The House Bunny, Death Race, Hamlet 2, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Tropic Thunder, Mamma Mia!, Pineapple Express, and The Dark Knight. As always, we invite you to share your thoughts on films In Theaters in our Movie Talk Forum.

TV on DVD: Pushing Daisies, Pete Seeger, and Paul Lynde
Pushing Daisies - The Complete First Season TV on DVD is as strong as ever with both new and classic shows turning up on those shiny little discs. Recent TV on DVD reviews include: Pushing Daisies - The Complete First Season - an utterly unique, original, bizarre and simply wonderful series; Pete Seeger - The Power of Song - A wonderful movie about a true American hero; and The Paul Lynde Halloween Special, with KISS - A deliciously camp waking nightmare this long-thought lost program has been miraculously unearthed and brought forth in all its gaudy, tacky mid-70s "Big Three" network TV special glory. Other shows recently reviewed include:  House, M.D. - Season Four, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown: Remastered Deluxe Edition, and P.D. James: Devices and Desires.  Want more?  Check out all of the TV on DVD reviews in the DVDTalk database.

DVD Savant: Robin Hood, Don Quixote, and All My Good Countrymen
The Adventures of Robin Hood This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: The Adventures of Robin Hood - Errol Flynn's biggest hit comes to Blu-ray in a dazzling package containing all the extras of the previous 2-disc special edition; All My Good Countrymen - A casualty of the Prague Spring of 1968, Vojtech Jasny's Czechoslovakian national epic is a bittersweet account of fifteen deplorable years under Communist rule. A farming town doesn't so much as adapt, as succumb, as seen in the experiences of six close friends; and Orson Welles' Don Quixote - Jesus Franco butchers the partially-filmed remnants of a movie that Orson Welles struggled to film for twenty years, but could not finish. Some interesting material, mostly obscured by the need to turn a fragment into a commercial product. But definitely for Orson Welles completists. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.

This Week's Notable DVDs: The Big Lebowski, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Child's Play
The Big Lebowski: 10th Anniversary Limited Edition Some all-time favorites are being released (or re-released) this week including one of the Coen Brothers best and some classic comedy from the BBC. This weeks top titles include:  The Big Lebowski: 10th Anniversary Limited Edition [review 1, review 2] - one of the most offbeat and re-watchable comedies ever made. If you haven't seen it, stop reading now and go get a copy; It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Season 3 [review] - Following the antics of five greedy, self-absorbed slackers running a dive bar, the show is highly quotable, remarkably re-watchable and instantly addictive; Child's Play - Chucky's 20th Birthday Edition [review 1 review 2]- Smartly executed and quite funny, this iconic horror cult film plays even better today than it did twenty years ago; and The Best of... What's Left of... Not Only... But Also... [review 1 review 2] - hilarious sketch comedy from Peter Cook and Dudley Moore. Other releases of note include:  Cool Hand Luke - Deluxe Edition [review] and Fox Horror Classics, Vol. 2 (Chandu the Magician / Dr. Renault's Secret / Dragonwyck) [review].
