New Reviews: Rock-a-Doodle, The Love of a Woman, and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
Our reviewers have been busy this week, filling the DVD
Talk Review Database more great entries. Some new reviews of note include:
Rock-a-Doodle - in the pantheon of movies about a sorcerous, organist owl transforming a little boy into a cartoon kitten who in turn sets out to track down Rooster Elvis, no one -- and I mean no one -- has done it better than Rock-a-Doodle; The Love of a Woman - a gorgeous little film that offers a low-key portrait of life in a small seaside town, flavored with some Douglas Sirk-style melodrama; and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind - essentially the very first Studio Ghibli film, this movie continues to withstand the test of time, whether we're talking about its visual language, the themes it employs, or the enduring strength of its heroine.
