Blood Work
Warner Bros. has announced the DVD release for Clint Eastwood's aged detective flick Blood Work. Set for release on December 27th Blood Work will be released in a separate Widescreen and Full Screen editions and feature: A making of feature, and a conversation in Spanish with Clint Eastwood, Wanda De Jesus and Paul Rodriguez (which will probably be more entertaining than the movie!). Yes Yes Y'all: Cinema Gotham reviews Wild Style
Cinema GothamThere has been plenty of rap crossover onto the silver screen during the last twenty years but no movie has been as true to the tenets of old-school hip-hop as Charlie Ahearn's Wild Style (1983). Thankfully, Rhino has released this classic on DVD with a terrific commentary track from Ahearn and one of the film's prime movers Fab 5 Freddy. Cinema Gotham was happy to review this welcome release.

Certainly nothing would be more scary than sitting down to dinner with some head hunting cannibals, just ask anthropologist Tobias Schneebaum the focus of Keep the River on Your Right. Cinema Gotham: The Education of Sonny Carson
Cinema Gotham Some films, no matter how worthwhile, just get lost in the shuffle of time. Luckily Michael Campus' The Education of Sonny Carson is being released to DVD by VCI Entertainment this month following years of shout-outs from rappers like Lauryn Hill. Education is an important and provocative film about race in New York. Carson was going to help introduce the DVD to the market himself but in late September he suffered a serious heart attack that currently has him in a coma. This week Cinema Gotham reviews the DVD and talks with the film's director Michael Campus (who also directed The Mack) about the film, the gangs it depicts, and Sonny Carson.

The Almost Spooky Effect of The Ring
For some unknown reason The Ring has had some strange pull on DVD Talk Reviewers, it's one of the most covered theatrical releases this year. The Good Girl
Fox has announced the DVD release for Jennifer Aniston's break out performance in The Good Girl. Set for release on January 7th, The Good Girl will be presented in both widescreen (enhanced for 16x9 TVs) and full frame with Dolby Digital 5.1 and feature: audio commentary by Director Miguel Arteta, writer and star Mike White, and Jennifer Aniston, deleted scenes and an alternate ending with Director's commentary. 3 New Superbit DVDs Announced
Columbia Tri-Star has announced the next batch of DVDs to appear in their Superbit line: Heavy Metal 2000 Superbit, Tommy Superbit and Resident Evil Superbit. True to Superbit form, all 3 DVDs will be presented in Widescreen format, enhanced for 16x9 TVs with both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS audio. Does a Superbit release for Resident Evil mean no future 2 DVD SE? Or will we have at least 1 more release of this movie to look forward to... Only time (and CTHV) will tell.

New Line's December Indies
With all the hype and hoopla over Lord of The Rings Extended Edition it would be easy to miss New Line's announcement of 3 indie films coming to DVD on December 10th: Cherish, Human Nature and Invisible Circus. All 3 movies feature both widescreen and fullscreen versions of the film with Human Nature and Invisible Circus both sporting 5.1 Dolby Digital Audio and Cherish Dolby 2.0. It would be a shame to over look Human Nature and Cherish both enjoyable indie films, but Invisible Circus (which was a huge bomb) should be avoided unless you are absolutely smitten with Cameron Diaz.

Yes - it's ALF on DVD

Set for release on October 22nd The Alf Files will contain 3 one hour episodes: Try to Remember (ALF hits his head and gets amnesia. Had to Be Made Film Fest
We always applaud independent film makers effort to get their movies seen. So the recent launch of the Had to Be Made Film Fest certainly got our attention. This unique Film Fest currently has open judging spots for a select number of 'filmgoers'. What's great about Had to Be Made Film Fest is the winners will get their films produced as collector's edition DVD with foreign and domestic distribution. It's a great way for a film lover to get involved or if you have an indie film, it's a shot at getting some great exposure.
