DVD Savant: Savant Crazy
This week we have some pretty exciting news from The DVD Savant. You can find his musings on the audio commentary track for Warner Bros' release of the classic noir film Gun Crazy. Also for Savant fans, more great news: a Savant book is in the works appropriately titled The DVD Savant Book, slated for publication in September (look for an opportunity to win it before it's release!!) In the meantime check out The Savant 's new reviews: Mamma Roma - Criterion gives us a first hand chance to study two early Pier Paolo Pasolini films, Deathdream - an excellent cast in a grim drama with a political bite, A Minute to Pray, A Second to Die - an American Spaghetti western that lacks the style or class of Sergio Leone, The Happiest Millionaire - Disney's most unwieldy klunker a three hour musical has fun personalities but lacks a good plot and catchy songs, Jack the Giant Killer the notorious copycat production practically struck from the same blueprints as The 7th Voyage of Sinbad and Hangman's Knot - this Randolph Scott western is good for its cast alone, even though it's something of an underachiever. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.

Cinemazing: Fahrenheit 9/11
This week in CineMazing editor Geoffrey Kleinman takes a look at one of the most talked about (and one of the best) films of the year: Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 - an extremely shocking and unsettling documentary that looks at the Bush presidency and its march to war in Iraq. Fahrenheit 9/11 is filled with jaw dropping revelations including connections between the Bin Laden and Bush families, the role of the Saudis in 9/11 and what's really happening to our soldiers in Iraq and their families back home. This is one film you won't want to miss! Read our Complete Review. Want to share your thoughts on Fahrenheit 9/11? Be sure to visit our Movie Talk Forum and join the discussion. This Week's Notable DVDs (6/22-6/29)
This week's notable DVDs include: the completely politically incorrect and hilarious Bad Santa [Review] also available in an unrated version: Badder Santa [Review] - read our comparison of these 2 releases. Comedy Central continues their great DVD streak with Reno 911: Season 1 - an extremely funny lampoon of the cop show genre. Spike TV gets in the game with their DVD debut - Joe Schmo Show: Season 1 [Review] - a very funny send up of the Reality TV Genre! Criterion's dazzles us again with The Lower Depths [Review] - a DVD release which pairs two interpretations of Maxim Gorky's play by directors Jean Renoir and Akira Kurosawa. Finally, more proof that Johnny Depp is reason enough to see a movie (even a bad one) Secret Window [Review].
