This week, The DVD Savant has reviews of I Vitelloni - Fellini's first big hit is an excellent serious drama, Forbidden Zone - A combo Zap Comic, profane musical and demented refuse heap of cultural rejects, a one-of-a-kind softcore phantasmagoria, Good Times - Sonny & Cher fans will flip; thanks to the sure first-time direction of William Friedkin, Lilith - Robert Rosson hits some perfect notes in this strange drama about asylum patients, and That Funny Feeling - Another odd show, an attempt to fit Sandra Dee and Bobby Darin into the Doris Day/Rock Hudson mold. If you're a fan of political documentaries, the next few months will be nirvana for you. Here's a recap of the notable political docs headding your way this fall: Fahrenheit 9/11 on 10/5 - probably the most well known political docs now with a ton of bonus footage on DVD including ' Outside Abu Ghraib Prison' and footage on the 9/11 Commission, John Kerry - Brothers in Arms on 9/7 - a look at the crew of patrol craft 'fast 94' and John Kerry's service in Vietnam, Bush Family Fortunes on 9/28 - an indepth look at the Bush Dynasty, The Hunting of the President on 9/28 - based on the best selling novel focused on the campaign to discredit Bill Clinton's presidency, Control Room on 9/28 - a look behind the scenes of Al Jazeera Television and The Corporation (released later this fall) - possiably the best of all the current crop of political docs. In addition there are a few political docs out now including: Outfoxed - Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism [Review] - a jaw dropping look at Fox 'News', Uncovered: The Whole Truth about The Iraq War - a strong condemnation of the war in Iraq and Disinformation: The Complete Series [Review].

An interesting mix of DVDs announced this week including: The Ultimate Matrix Collection on 12/7 - the definitive 10 disc Matrix release with all 4 films (including the Animatrix), all the special features from previous releases plus 4 new bonus discs of content, Maria Full of Grace on 12/7 - this summer's best 'hidden gem' should absolutely be on your list this year, The Clearing on 11/19 - an enjoyable thriller with a stellar cast including Robert Redford, Hellen Mirren, and William DaFoe, Before Sunset on 11/19 Richard Linklater's unexpected sequel to his charming Before Sunrise, Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season Seven on 11/16 - the final chapter for this popular series, 24: Season Three 12/7 - the real question being, will CineSchlock-O-Rama do another butt numbing 24 marathon.
