DVD Savant - Doris Day, Errol Flynn and My Name is Nobody

Anime Talk: Guide to Dragon Ball Z
There's a lot of useful information in Anime Talk this week. Our table of upcoming releases has been updated, as well as Holly's anime deals. We have reviews of the latest anime DVDs and the heads-up on some upcoming discs of note. Also, since FUNimation has started to release the first 67 episodes of Dragon Ball Z in uncut form (at last!) we thought now would be a good time to publish the Anime Talk Guide to Dragon Ball. This Week's Notable DVDs - Undertow, Lemony Snicket and Wildboyz
A good mix of notable DVDs this week including: Undertow [Review] - one of the best films you haven't seen, director David Gordon Green shows he's a true phenom, Assassination of Richard Nixon - Sean Penn is fantastic as always in a film based on a real plot to knock off Nixon, Blade - Trinity (Unrated Widescreen Edition) [Review] - Wesley Snipes returns this time with help from Jessica Biel and Ryan Reynolds, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events [Review] - a Jim Carrey roller coaster that's fun for the whole family , Wildboyz: Season 2 - the most overlooked MTV series is also one of its best, The Manson Family [Review] [Interview] - a film fifteen years in the making and still perhaps ahead of its time. Silent DVD: Hindle Wakes, Slap Happy and Leaves from Satan's Book
This month Silent DVD has more reviews of the newest silent film releases on DVD including Hindle Wakes - a 1921 film from Britain, is a surprisingly entertaining drama that has a rather surprising message for the time, Leaves from Satan's Book - Carl Theodor Dreyer's second feature inspired by D. W. Griffith's film Intolerance and Slap Happy - a very funny and informative series that aired on PBS looks at some of the forgotten comics of the silent age. In addition to reviews there is information about Milestones series of Mary Pickford films, the re-issue of Treasures from American Film Archives boxed set, and a comprehensive list of upcoming silent DVDs. Recent International DVD Reviews include: Nobody Knows - one of the big winners at Cannes last year this is a brilliant, involving heartbreaker that should not be missed, The Eye 2 - with a strong visual style The Pang Brothers put out an interesting follow up to their exceptional horror film, Love Letter - explosively hot in Asia, Korean TV now comes with english subtitles so we can catch up, Shutter - reminiscent of both Ju-On and Ringu this film still manages to serve as a noteworthy entry in the Asian horror universe, Butterfly - a very well made film with solid direction and two very good performances, A World Without Thieves - an interesting drama/romance/action/comedy hybrid that is well worth seeking out, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance - another brilliant film from Oldboy director Chan Woo-Park, and Infernal Affairs Trilogy - the Chinese equivalent of The Godfather Saga.
