New Movie Reviews: Click and Waist Deep
The latest Adam Sandler comedy, Click, tells the story of workaholic architect Michael Newman (Sandler) and his discovery of a universally powerful remote control that allows him to fast-forward and rewind to different points in his life. Helmed by Sandler's Waterboy director, Click looks to capitalize on its funny script and strong supporting cast of Kate Beckinsale and the always-entertaining Christopher Walken. Also in theaters this week is Waist Deep - Tyrese Gibson stars as an ex-con risking his life after his son is kidnapped in a carjacking; The Road to Guantanamo - a striking film about four British Muslims imprisoned in Cuba after being accused of working for Al Quaeda; and Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man - a documentary about the legendary singer-songwriter. Be sure to catch reviews of other recent Theatrical Films: Nacho Libre, The Lake House, The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift, Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties, Wordplay, Cars, The Omen (2006). As always, we invite you to share your thoughts on films in theaters in our Movie Talk Forum Area.

DVD Savant: Why We Fight, Goebbels Experiment and I Wake Up Screaming
This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: Why We Fight - Eugene Zarecki shows his docu skills in another compelling and convincing political piece stemming from President Eisenhower's last address as President, where he warned against the growing Military-Industrial Complex; The Goebbels Experiment - Easily the best documentary on Nazis Savant has seen; I Wake Up Screaming - Betty Grable in a film noir? She's toe to toe with Victor Mature and Laird Cregar in this oddball mix of murder, society comedy and weird musical choices; The Valerio Zurlini Box Set - NoShame gives us a pair of fine features from the beginning of the boom years in Italy, by the talented but less-celebrated Valerio Zurlini. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.

TV on DVD Reviews: Strangers with Candy: CS, Justice League: S2, and The Weird Al Show: CS
Some great TV on DVD releases reviewed this week including: Strangers with Candy: Complete Series - the hilarious and offbeat cult hit finally gets all thirty episodes released in one excellent DVD package; Justice League: S2 - the second season of this animated superhero series is far superior to its predecessor; The Weird Al Show: Complete Series - the entire 13-episode run of a show that might not be for everyone, but one that Yankophiles will find a near-essential purchase; Masters of Horror: Deer Woman - this John Landis entry in the Showtime series features his usual mix of horror and quirky dark humor; The Pee-Wee Herman Show - this relatively unseen special might have been the first bit of national exposure for Paul Reubens and his titular character; Thinking XXX: Extended Edition - the Timothy Greenfield-Sanders documentary that provides "a thoughtful look at the unusual world of porn and the people who inhabit it." This Week's Notable DVDs: Syriana, The Hills Have Eyes: Unrated and Night Watch
A strong week for notable DVDs this week including: Syriana [Review] - this politically-charged film is not only smart, but also incredibly entertaining, and earned George Clooney his first Academy Award®; The Hills Have Eyes: Unrated [Review] - the gloriously gruesome Alexandre Aja remake gets a fantastic unrated DVD treatment; Night Watch [Review] - this Russian vampire-fantasy might be a bit confusing, but its definitely interesting and shows that these filmmakers clearly have potential; What's Eating Gilbert Grape: SE [Review] - the sweet and sharply-focused character study that shows just how great Leonardo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp can be; The Omen: CE [Review] - Richard Donner's horror classic gets a new DVD release that's easily worth the double-dip. Other Notable DVDs out this week include: Justice League: S2 [Review], Equinox: Criterion [Review], Nate & Hayes [Review], NewsRadio: S4 [Review], Krypto: V1 [Review] The Loved Ones [Review].
