New HD DVD and Blu-Ray Reviews: The Departed, Casino Royale and Stranger Than Fiction
DVD Talk is your source for all the latest HD DVD and Blu-Ray Disc Reviews. New HD DVD Reviews include: Hollywoodland - an intriguing if not quite completely engrossing period mystery with nice picture quality, acceptable sound, and decent supplements; The Departed - a terrific movie that looks great, sounds damn good, and comes with worthy bonus features; Nine Inch Nails Live - Beside You in Time - explosive performances combined with a reference audio and strong supplements; Babel - many great moments to be found, but the overall effect is less than the sum of its parts. New Blu Ray reviews include: Casino Royale - terrific revitalization of the James Bond franchise, and this Blu-ray edition has excellent picture and sound; Saw III - it isn't a perfect movie, nor is it a perfect ending to the series' first trilogy; District B13 - a fantastic action flim with its state of the art stunts...that shouldn't be possible; Stranger Than Fiction - featuring some strong performances on a disc that looks and sounds very good with top-notch supplements. Read these and over 330 other HD and Blu-Ray Disc Reviews.

New Movie Reviews: Premonition, I Think I Love My Wife, and Tortilla Heaven
Sandra Bullock takes a break from her recent string of indie flicks to star in Mennan Yapo's thriller Premonition. When her husband shows up the day after he dies in a car accident, Bullock tries to figure out how to prevent the tragedy from actually occurring. Sound a little hokey? Yeah, we thought so too. Premonition opens wide this weekend. Also in theaters this week is I Think I Love My Wife - Chris Rock stars in (and directs) this eh-worthy romantic comedy where he thinks he loves his wife; Tortilla Heaven - Judy Hecht Dumontet directs this infectious and enthusiastic Latino Cinema indie; and Finding Kraftland - this inspired and fun documentary about pop-culture collector Robert Kraft may be tough to find but is certainly worth the trouble. Be sure to catch reviews of other recent Theatrical Films: Starter for 10, 300, The Host, The Namesake, The Ultimate Gift, Wild Tigers I Have Known, Air Guitar Nation, Zodiac, Black Snake Moan, Wild Hogs, Days of Glory (Indigenes), Full of It. As always, we invite you to share your thoughts on films in theaters in our Movie Talk Forum Area.

TV on DVD Reviews: Sleeper Cell, Without a Trace and I Love Lucy
A number of notable TV on DVD releases reviewed recently including: Sleeper Cell: American Terror - The Complete Second Season - a fantastic series with a gripping, engaging, and entertaining storyline with great acting performances, superb writing, an awesome plot-line, and well-developed characters; Without a Trace - The Complete Second Season - a strong season that is tightly plotted, thought-provoking and with emotionally powerful stories; I Love Lucy - The Complete Seasons 7-9 - the set is actually the follow up series The Lucille Ball - Desi Arnaz Show which is fun and often quite ambitious; The Loop: Season 1 - a sitcom aimed directly at the young-at-heart demographic, with absurdest plots, great throwaway lines and nothing too heavy to detract from the point of it all – being funny. DVD Savant: Naked City, The Bridesmaid and The Heiress
This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: The Naked City - Jules Dassin's most restrained noir is a superb symphony of crime and detection in the Big Apple circa 1948; The Bridesmaid - Claude Chabrol proves once again that people themselves are the real mystery in life; The Heiress - William Wyler leads a terrific cast in one of his best pictures; Perversion Story - Lucio Fulci directs a glamorous, nonsensical murder mystery and wisely turns it into a fetishistic valentine to actress Marisa Mell; Sanders of the River & Jericho - Paul Robeson stars in two English adventure-musicals from the 1930s. Clip of The Week: Hundra
This week we have a number of clips from Subversive Cinema for the DVD release of Hundra. Special features for the very first DVD release of this cult classic include a brand new anamorphic widescreen transfer, full-length commentary with director Matt Cimber and Laurene Landon, a making-of featurette, an original comic book and bonus soundtrack CD with Ennio Morricone's original score (limited to the first 5,000 copies). New DVD Reviews: Revenge of The Nerds, Curse of the Golden Flower and Let's Go To Prison
With over 18,600 DVD reviews in the DVD Talk Review Database, it's easy to overlook some of the great reviews. Recent DVD Reviews include: Revenge of the Nerds: Panty Raid Edition - despite the laughable technology references and pretty bad fashion, this classic '80s sex comedy has aged surprisingly well; Curse of the Golden Flower - If you like royal intrigue with a healthy dose of action mixed in, Curse of the Golden Flower won't disappoint; Let's Go to Prison - much maligned when in theaters Bob Odenkirk's lowbrow comedy is actually funny and worth checking out; Borat - Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan - Sascha Baron Cohen is genius in one of the better leaps from TV onto the big screen in recent memory; Cave of the Yellow Dog - a wonderful film with sweet simplicities and quiet observations on the life of a family of nomads in West Mongolia; Strange Circus - undoubtedly, very true to its title and quite bizarre to the core; Disney's Mickey Mouse Clubhouse - Mickey's Great Clubhouse Hunt - charming, fun, and educational..kids will want to watch this over and over again. Visit the DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week including a the ability to Browse reviews by studio.
