New Movie Reviews: Reign Over Me, Pride, and Shooter
Mike Binder helms the oft-delayed heartfelt film Reign Over Me, starring a very disheveled Adam Sandler and a slick-as-always Don Cheadle. The 9/11 theme and excellent cast should make this one a hit with the critics. We'll see how it stacks up with audiences around the country as Reign Over Me opens wide this weekend. Also in theaters this week is Pride - Terrence Howard stars in this film about a group of troubled teens and their rise to swimming stardom; TMNT - everyone's favorite ninja turtles return to the big screen in this CGI adaptation; and Shooter - Antoine Fuqua is back in the director's chair for this Mark Wahlber-starring action flick. Be sure to catch reviews of other recent Theatrical Films: The Last Mimzy, Boy Culture, Air Guitar Nation, Dead Silence, Premonition, I Think I Love My Wife, Tortilla Heaven, Finding Kraftland, Starter for 10, 300, The Host, The Namesake, The Ultimate Gift, Wild Tigers I Have Known, Zodiac, Black Snake Moan. As always, we invite you to share your thoughts on films in theaters in our Movie Talk Forum Area.

TV on DVD Reviews: SNL Steve Martin, Moonlighting and Cool McCool
A number of notable TV on DVD releases reviewed recently including: Saturday Night Live: Best of Steve Martin - at its funniest when Steve Martin isn't even in the skits, but rather when he's doing the early stand up that put him on the proverbial map; Moonlighting: Season Five - The Final Season - saying goodbye to one of TV's most fun couples is sad in the swan song of a great series; Cool Mccool: Complete Series - Sly and witty, with a beautifully stylized production design, Cool McCool is a fun 1960s animated spy spoof that plays very well today; Batman Beyond - Season Three - while it may be nearing its ten year mark but in many ways the show is as fresh now as it was when it aired; JAG: Judge Advocate General - The Complete Third Season - the show's third season continues the same great pace set in season two, with a solid focus on in and out of the courtroom drama with action and humor. This Week's Notable DVDs: Blood Diamond, Rocky Balboa and The Nativity Story
A number of notable DVDs out this week including: Blood Diamond [Review] - ambitious to a fault, it combines a strong atmosphere with several interesting characters to keep things moving; Rocky Balboa [Review] - taking cues from the original and best, it closes the uneven franchise with style and dignity; The Nativity Story [Review] - beautifully designed, with naturalistic, believable performances it is a marvelously straightforward, confident rendition of Joseph and Mary's time before the birth of Jesus; Eragon [Review] - a big, dumb unoriginal retread that feels like a greatest hits package of previous genre efforts. Other notable DVDs out this week include: McHale's Navy: S1 [Review], Miami Vice: S3 & S4 [Review], Milton The Monster Show [Review], Re-Animator [Review] and Run's House: S1&2. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.

New DVD Reviews: The Perfect Crime, The Dukes of Hazzard - The Beginning and Requiem
With over 18,600 DVD reviews in the DVD Talk Review Database, it's easy to overlook some of the great reviews. Recent DVD Reviews include: The Perfect Crime (El Crimen Perfecto) - absolutely one of the best films you've never seen, an exceptional film that demands to be seen; The Dukes of Hazzard - The Beginning - ditch your perceptions of direct-to-DVD releases because this is the Citizen Kane of films for fourteen year olds; Requiem - a dramatic horror that delves into the manipulated psyche and tumultuous effects of a stringent religious upbringing upon a girl who merely wants to live her life, demons and all; The Other Side of Midnight - As lurid trash goes, this is a true heavyweight, but its epic length can test even the most dedicated junk aficionado; The Naked City - Criterion - crackling police drama told in a vivid, Neorealist style; The Burmese Harp - Criterion - a contemporary of Kurosawa, Ozu, and Mizoguchi, Kon Ichikawa's career is better likened to that of American director John Huston, who like Ichikawa dabbled in every conceivable genre.
