TV on DVD: The BBC Natural History Collection, Tim and Eric Awesome Show, and Dark Shadows.
The BBC Natural History CollectionTV on DVD remains very popular with more and more favorites being released. New TV reviews include:  The BBC Natural History Collection - quite simply the mother lode of natural history documentaries; Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! - Season 1 - a truly bizarre series that airs on The Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block it's essentially a warped sketch comedy show made up of skits and fake commercials that's pretty damn funny; and Dark Shadows: The Beginnings Collection 4 - a perfect opportunity to see creator Dan Curtis' avoidance of restraint in action. Over the course of these 35 episodes, it's a regular ghost gala!; Other shows include:  Disraeli (1978), Alien Nation - Ultimate Movie Collection,  and WWE - Royal Rumble 2008. Check out all of the TV on DVD reviews in the DVDTalk database.

DVD Savant: Charlie Wilson's War, Alain Delon Collection, and Abel Raises Cain
Charlie Wilson's War This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: Charlie Wilson's War - Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and Philip Seymour Hoffman team up to tell the true story of a great American hero ... who waged a covert war in the right place at the right time. Great comic filmmaking, and some troubling political implications amid smashing success; Alain Delon Five-Film Collection - One of France's most popular stars shows his range of talent in a broad cross-section of feature vehicles: Diabolically Yours, La Piscine, The Widow Couderc, Le Gitan and Notre Histoire; Abel Raises Cain - Meet Alan Abel, the most amazing hoaxer of the 20th century. Abel pulls off countless hoaxes, big and small, with the sole purpose of opening our eyes to our own gullibility and the flawed nature of our information media. Fully documented and very funny; and Bamako - Abderrahmane Sissako's political gauntlet puts The World Bank on trial for bleeding dry his home country of Mali. Music, a western parody (with Danny Glover) and fiery rhetoric expose the greed of Globalization. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
